Activities at Thakadu Bush Camp
Bushman walk
Walk and learn with the San people, the oldest inhabitants of Southern Africa: Standardly leaving at around 17:30 with a guide/interpreter that relays messages from the San on how they interact with the Kalahari flora and fauna, giving you an insight into generations of knowledge passed down. This activity lasts around 1 and a half hours allowing for a nice bush sunset at the end.
Bushman Dance
Before or after dinner join in a traditional dance around a fire, a short walk or drive from the main camp. Each song has a story to tell, which will be translated for you by your guide. Stories passed down through the ages, lots of jubilant clapping, and enchanting voices make a great atmosphere while sitting in the Kalahari at night.
Vulture restaurant
We have a feeding spot and research station to help conserve the vultures which are in rapid decline, an underground hide lets you view the vultures up close and learn facts regarding these important birds.
Self-drive game viewing
we are situated on a game farm with plentiful Kalahari Game animals and birds, great sunsets, and views, you can get a map from reception and have a drive around.
Walking trails
It is perfectly safe to go for a walk on the property and there are trails laid out that can be used for walking, jogging, or cycling. Or you can cool off in our swimming pool which also overlooks the water hole and is nice and close to the bar and restaurant!
